Denver, my home town. I've lived here for over 25 years now, transplanted from the east coast, and it really does feel like home. I have become a westerner, comfortable in the dry air and arid landscape, free-thinking in the not-bound-by-tradition sense, independent, and proud of my city. For many of those years I lived and worked downtown and though my visits to the city center are infrequent now I still enjoy the energy there. The signature architecture is interesting, but what makes a great city is the people.
Denver people are involved in their community. They paint murals on downtown buildings on Sunday mornings. It's an active community with miles of bike trails, multitudinous parks, and nearby mountains to provide physical outlets for the ever expanding populace.
Sometimes I think that it's getting too crowded, too much traffic, too hard to get into a restaurant, find a parking space, see a sporting event (baseball is an easy ticket this year though). But it's just people like me looking for a good place to be. I wish them luck.
